Northern Traditional Rulers Council Convene 7th Executive Committee Meeting

In direct response to the rising wave of insecurity and renewed Boko Haram/ISWAP attacks across Borno State and the wider North East, the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council (NTRC) has convened its 7th Executive Committee Meeting in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Tuesday.

Themed “Enhanced Security as a Panacea for Stability and Development of the North,” the meeting brings together eminent traditional leaders from across the northern region, security stakeholders, and top government officials to deliberate on the deteriorating security situation and proffer traditional, regional, and national strategies to restore peace and stability.

The meeting comes on the heels of strong concerns recently voiced by Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, and the Shehu of Borno, HRH Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, who warned that the Northeast is facing a serious threat of losing hard-earned gains in the fight against terrorism due to apparent de-prioritization by federal security effort,
