Work resumed at the uncompleted edifice of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Kwara State chapter, secretariat and media resource center, courtesy of Taiwo Awoniyi, Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker .

The building has remained uncompleted over the years despite spirited efforts by the leadership of the association to have completed in no time.

Though there had been promises from different individuals to help the journalists in completing the secretariat, very little have come from them.

Speaking after a guided tour of the uncompleted building located at the Kwara State Stadium, by members of SWAN executive alongside the building engineer designated to undertake the project, Ismail Ayodeji, chairman of sports writers guild, said the association is filled with immense gratitude to Awoniyi.

“Once again, he has demonstrated a rare commitment, understanding of the place of media in sports development and marketing,” Ayodeji said.

The secretariat, when completed, is meant not only to serve as offices for sports writers, it will also serve as a complete sports media hub to promote the business and development of sports in the state.

With the Secretariat strategically located within the Kwara State stadium and having the capacity to host over 32 sporting activities simultaneously, founding fathers of Kwara SWAN have always dreamed of the Kwara SWAN office becoming a major center piece of sports reporting, second to none in the country.
