NPFL: Kano Pillars Beat Bendel Insurance In Benin City

Kano Pillars claimed its second away victory of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on Saturday, edging past Bendel Insurance with a last-minute goal in their Match day 11 fixture, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.

Following a scoreless first half, the game appeared to be heading for a stalemate until Rabiu Ali stole the spotlight. After the regulation 90 minutes, the fourth official indicated seven additional minutes.

In the final moments of injury time, Kano Pillars were awarded a penalty after a Bendel Insurance defender handled the ball inside the box while attempting to block Ahmed Musa’s shot. Rabiu Ali stepped up confidently and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, dispatching the ball into the net.

This goal further extended Ali’s remarkable goal-scoring record in the NPFL and marked his sixth goal of the current season.

The win goal gave Kano Pillars all three points against a resilient Bendel Insurance side on another thrilling day of NPFL football.

In his post-match interview, Kano Pillars head coach, Usman Abdallah, praised his players’ composure and resilience throughout the game. He noted that his team have now rebounded from recent points dropped at home and is focused on maintaining their strong away form this season.

The Pyramid City side has so far collected maximum points against both Rangers and Bendel Insurance on the road and earned a point from Bayelsa United in Yenagoa.

Abdallah, a former Super Eagles assistant coach, acknowledged the overwhelming support from fans, especially during away matches. He dedicated the win to the loyal supporters who turned out in large numbers to cheer on the NPFL giants.

Kano Pillars will host Heartland FC on Matchday 12, while Bendel Insurance face Rangers International.
