Lobi Stars FC defeated Kwara United 2-0 on match day 17 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), on Sunday at the Kwara Stadium Complex in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.

The visitors opened the scoring after an own goal by Godwin Oshagbemi in the 21st minute. Lobi Stars then extended its lead through Stanley Oganbor in the 43rd minute after a defensive error by Kwara United.

In the second half, Kwara United were awarded a penalty when Emmanuel Ogbole was fouled in the box. However, Paul Samson missed the penalty.

In a match that coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo’s men needed to win, especially on the backdrop of the three match ultimatum given to the coaching crew, Kwara United failed to take its chances in the encounter to leave them in 14th place on 19 points.

Lobi Stars coach, Eugene Agagbe, said that the target was to beat the home team to broaden their chances of top three finish.
