NPFL: Plateau United Beats MFM, Closes Gap On Rivers
Plateau United continued to put pressure on league leaders Rivers United after an impressive 2-0 victory against visitors MFM FC in match day 23 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), at the Jos New Stadium on Sunday.
Two first half goals through defender Ibrahim Buhari in the 23rd minute and Haggai Katoh’s 25-yard screamer ensured that the Highlanders kept their 100 percent home record so far.
Though the Olukoya Boys had a rejuvenated second half, it was Plateau that exhibited more hunger but could not increase the tally. Playing against his former club, Plateau United coach Fidelis Ilechukwu said he was happy with the result.
“I am happy we picked the three points against MFM but we could have done better with more goals which didn’t come,” Ilechukwu said.
MFM head coach Izekwene Ikechukwu was unhappy with the chances that were missed by his players.
“We had our chances but we could not convert those chances; though Plateau is a stronger side and they were able to convert their chances,” the MFM coach Ikechukwu added.
