NPFL: Rangers ‘In Jos For Business,’ Says Captain Olusesi
Rangers International captain Tope Olusesi has declared that they are “in Jos for business,” adding that they have not made the long trip from Enugu to Jos for their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match-day 33 fixture against Nasarawa United for nothing.
The Rangers right wing back wants to banish the horrendous outing the last time they played at the New Jos Stadium late last month when they suffered a 4-0 defeat to title contenders Plateau United.
Olusesi acknowledged that his team, the Flying Antelopes, have endured a poor run of form on the road and is keen to make sure they “redeem” themselves and get their aspiration for a continental place alive as it remains their most realistic chance of finishing this season with a flourish.
“I believe that we are in Jos for business and this will be displayed on the pitch on Sunday,” Olusesi said in an interview.
“There is no room for too much talk because we know what happened to us in our last visit to Jos and we don’t want a repeat but to redeem our image and get back to winning ways.”
In their last seven league matches on the road, Olusesi and his teammates have managed to pick a point (D1 L8), but they have somehow stayed in the top-three.
Olusesi believes that run of form on the road is not good enough and is optimistic that they can turn things around as the season heads into its final stretch.
“Really, it has been very challenging but I have that strong belief that we shall start getting points on the road starting with this second visit to Jos,” the Rangers captain added.
When both teams met earlier this season, Rangers defeated Nasarawa United 1-0 through Christian Nnaji’s goal.
