NPFL: Rangers International Thrashes Gombe United In Enugu

Rangers International FC on Saturday beat Gombe United FC 4-1 in a rescheduled 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier  Football League (NPFL) fixture on Saturday, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu State, South-Eastern Nigeria.

Gombe United drew the first blood in the 19th minute through Wasiu Alalade when Rangers goalkeeper failed to punch a cross from the left flank. However, veteran striker Godwin Obaje equalised for Rangers in the 22nd minute.

Obaje then made it 2-1 through a penalty kick in the 39th following a foul on goal bound Kazeem Ogunleye, giving the flying antelopes a half time lead.

In the second half, Gombe came out stronger as they pushed back the home team to their own half. But their push was short-lived when Chidiebere Nwobodo scored the third goal. Few minutes later, Ugochukwu Agu scored Rangers’ fourth goal through a free kick outside the eighteen yard box as the matched finished 4-1.

Despite the victory, the seven-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions remained unmoved on the log as they retained their 9th position with 25 points from 18 matches. Gombe
