The newly elected National Chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Edozie Njoku, has expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning future State and National elections.

Njoku based the party’s new found confidence in the commitment of its members to strengthening its structure.

Speaking in an interview in Lagos, he underscored the importance of a strong political structure.

Njoku was the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

He said the NRM would field a candidate in the upcoming Anambra state governorship election scheduled for November, saying,  “NRM’s chances are very bright.

We are currently touring the country to establish a solid, winning structure for the party.

“Once this process is completed in the next four to six months, everyone will see how strong our position is.

“The most important thing for us right now is to build the party, and we are fully committed to putting in the necessary effort to achieve this,” he said.

Njoku urged party members and stakeholders to remain proactive, stating that “nothing good comes without hard work.

“Our members must be ready to put in the hard work, and the rewards will follow. I strongly believe in the power of party structure,” he said.

On the upcoming Anambra governorship election, Njoku noted that the state remained one of the southeastern strongholds of the NRM.

“Once we finalise our registration processes with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), we will officially present our candidate.

“Several individuals have already expressed interest in contesting.

“With the election scheduled for November, we have ample time to conduct our campaigns and preparations effectively,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Chairperson of NRM, Mrs Temilola Akinade, has urged Njoku to align with the party’s existing structure in the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Akinade, who, also served as the Chairperson of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Lagos state, claimed that Njoku’s recent meeting in Lagos was not with the recognised party leadership.

“I am the Lagos State Chairperson of NRM, and our state council is fully in place.

“Unfortunately, a group claiming to be the party’s leadership in Lagos is not recognised.

“The organiser of the said meeting is not known to the party, which is why we instructed our members to stay away from it,”Akinade stated.

Recall that Njoku, along with some NRM national officials, met with party members in Lagos on Wednesday as part of efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
