The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Olusola Odumosu, has ordered the deployment of 4,000 personnel across all parts of the FCT ahead of this year’s Yuletide celebrations.
The deployment is aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property of FCT residents, as well as the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) within the FCT and its environs before, during, and after the festivities.
The operation cuts across specialised departments and units, including the Armed Squad, Crack Squad, CNAI Unit, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit, Female Strike Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), and Agro Rangers.
“There is also massive deployment to vulnerable locations and soft targets such as churches, shopping malls, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, amusement parks, and areas housing Critical National Assets and Infrastructure,” he said.
“In a bid to ensure proactiveness and prevent emergencies or unforeseen circumstances, men of our undercover unit have already been deployed for covert operations and surveillance,” the Commandant noted.
He emphasised that black spots, including uncompleted buildings that harbour criminals, have also been covered to avert security breaches.
Dr Odumosu further issued marching orders to all area commanders and divisional officers to ensure their respective area councils remain vigilant and maintain a strong security presence to prevent any hitches.
“All hands must be on deck. I will not tolerate any form of breach. Ensure your personnel comply adequately,” he remarked.
The FCT helmsman charged all personnel to conduct themselves professionally and work in synergy with other security agencies. He also advised them to adhere strictly to the rules of engagement and avoid harassment, intimidation of citizens, or accidental discharge.

He assured FCT residents of a safe celebration, stressing that adequate measures have been put in place to guarantee a secure environment before, during, and after the festivities.
Commandant Odumosu urged residents of the FCT to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement by individuals or groups to the nearest security agency.
“My personnel are ready to ensure a peaceful celebration. You also have a part to play by being proactive, vigilant, and willing to cooperate with law enforcement agencies for our collective good,” the Commandant said.
He warned criminals and vandals to stay away from critical national assets and infrastructure, stating that NSCDC covert operatives and patrol teams are spread across the city and will not hesitate to bring offenders to justice.
He wished residents of the FCT a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year ahead.
