The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has hosted its inaugural State-Level Coordination Meeting with key operators and stakeholders involved in the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).

This strategic engagement aligns with the directives of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed A. Audi, and follows resolutions from the coordination meeting held at the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) on 21 August 2025.

The meeting was also aimed at strengthening collaboration for the effective protection of vital national assets across the state.

Chaired by the Gombe State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Jibrin Idris, the meeting was geared towards fostering stronger synergy and cooperation among stakeholders for enhanced CNAI protection in Gombe State and improving intelligence sharing and response.

The NSCDC said participants discussed frameworks for efficient intelligence sharing, incident reporting, and rapid response mechanisms for CNAI-related incidents.

National infrastructure

Commandant Jibrin Idris reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to safeguarding critical national infrastructure, noting that the meeting directly supports the Corps’ core mandate.

He also referenced recent engagements with heads of all security agencies in Gombe State, during which they pledged their support.

The Commandant outlined upcoming plans for CNAI protection, including intensified public awareness campaigns through media platforms and the development of joint protection strategies by the NSCDC and CNAI operators.

He said the efforts signal a shift towards a multi-stakeholder security approach.

Establishing Notification Protocols: The NSCDC requested that all arrests related to CNAI offences be reported to the Corps within 24 hours, reflecting its proactive security approach,” said.

Participants during the meeting included State Coordinators; Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA); Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS); National Youth Service Corps (NYSC); Manager, Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED); State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA); Manager, MTN; and the Vice Chancellor, North Eastern University, Gombe, among others.
