NSCDC Lauds President Tinubu’s Support for Agency’s Accomplishments

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has lauded President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for his steadfast support and encouragement, which have contributed significantly to the agency’s accomplishments.

NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, made this statement during the passing-out parade for the third batch of Mining Marshals, trained specifically to protect mining sites across Nigeria.

Dr. Audi noted that the establishment of the Mining Marshals, approved by the Federal Government through the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will enhance the regulation and security of mining sites.

He expressed regret over past losses of lives and resources due to illegal mining and emphasized that this initiative aims to safeguard Nigeria’s mining sector from further harm.

He charged the officers to at all times desist from any act capable of jeopardizing the set objectives of the government and obey the principle cardinals of President Tinubu against corrupt practices reminding them that internal monitoring mechanism has been set to monitor the activities of the personnel at the mining sites.

In his remarks, the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, commended the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi for his doggedness and relentless efforts by deploying highly trained and professional personnel to protect the nation’s critical assets.

The Minister, represented by the Secretary, Civil Defence, Correctional Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) Controller of Corrections Ahmed Ja’afaru (Rtd), maintained that with the level of rigorous training and knowledge-driven skills imparted into the Mining Marshals, there is hope and a future for the nation because the protection of the CNAI is a sine qua non to the economy of any nation.

He noted that the Audi-led Administration has paved the way for officers and men to go through the requisite training needed to enhance the security architecture of the country, calling on the newly trained operatives to leverage the laudable opportunity and discharge their duties effectively. without compromise.

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Henry Dele Alake, who was represented by the Director of Federal Mines and Steel, Engineer Imam Ganiyu, said a close look at the achievements recorded by the NSCDC under the current leadership shows that the collaboration between the Ministry of Interior and the Federal Mines and Steel has brought about a significant change in the mining sector.

He further stressed the need to intensify efforts to generate more revenue for the Federal government and create more jobs for the teaming youths in the country.

Recall that over 300 suspects and over 200 mining sites have been recovered from illegal miners and bandits.

The high point of the ceremony was the official inauguration of the office of the CG’s SIS and the office of Mining Marshals.
