Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has warned accredited Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Computer Based Test operators in the habit of overcharging prospective candidates above Government stipulated rate for examination to desist from doing so.
The State Commandant of the Corps, Chikere Isidore, gave the warning when he received in audience the Anambra State Coordinator in his office on Friday at the state Command Headquarters Awka, the state capital.
Comdt. Chikere said the command would not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any service provider or group of persons who dares to extort innocent citizens in the course of registration or deregistered CBT centers still registering candidates.
“Ahead of the commencement of 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration, the command will deploy plain- clothes personnel to various registration centres to ensure that prospective candidates are not shortchanged. Be assured that whoever is caught selling the form above the Government stipulated rate will definitely face the full wrath of the law,” he concluded.
He acknowledged the synergy between NSCDC and Jamb which has yielded positive results in examination malpractice, closure of non-accredited registration centres and apprehending of syndicates exploiting prospective candidates during registration.
Earlier, Mrs. Karen Gar, the JAMB State Coordinator, appreciated the Corps for providing adequate security and ensuring discipline during the conduct of past UTME while appealing that same collaboration be sustained this year.
She assured that all necessary provisions have been made to ensure that 2023 examination is conducted in serene environments across the State.
