NSF22: Team Nasarawa Takes First Medals On Day 3

Team Nasarawa has joined the league of medal-winning States at the ongoing National Sports Festival codenamed #Delta22.

Youngster, Agada Elijah, won the State’s first medal after finishing 3rd in the Taekwondo Poomsae(demonstration) Individual Event, settling for a Bronze.

Shortly after, the trio of Agada Elijah, Isah Ahmadu and Agada Ofu, combined to win another Taekwondo Bronze🥉 Medal for the State in the Poomsae Team Event.

The Coach Lois Jerry-tutored side, however, was unlucky to increase the medal haul as Isah Ahmadu lost 12-14 in the depth to his Yobe State counterpart, Aliyu Salisu Adamu, in the Quarter-Finals stage of the -58kg Male Category.

Isah had earlier beaten his Edo State opponent, Osorobor Samuel enroute to the last eight.

In Para-Table Tennis, Hussaini Ibrahim breezed into the Semi-Finals stage after victories over his Abia State opponent, Nonso Samuel, whom he defeated 2-0, and Ebonyi State counterpart, Nwokporo Ezekiel, who he also beat 2-0.

Hussaini is now into the medal stage and assured of expanding Team Nasarawa’s medal archive when he plays on Saturday morning(8am), 3rd December, 2022, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

He is yet to know his Semi-Finals opponent.

In Golf, team Nasarawa golfers waded their way through to the second round in the Amateur Event decided today at the Ibori Golf and Country Club, Asaba.

In boxing, Samuel John (51kg) fought his way through to the second round following win over his Osun State opponent.

He will face any of the opponents from Oyo or Delta State in the morning on Saturday at the Event centre, Okpanam Road, Asaba.

Habeeb Obayomi(57kg) also won his fight against Kwara State, and through to the second round.

He will face his Oyo State opponent on Saturday.

Musa Yusuf (67kg) will get into action on Saturday in his first fight against his counterpart from Ebonyi State.
