NSGF Chairman Condoles with Jigawa Government After Tanker Explosion

The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, has extended his deepest sympathies to Governor Umar Namadi and the people of Jigawa State after a devastating tanker explosion in Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area.

The incident, which claimed the lives of over 100 people and left many injured, has left the entire region in mourning.

Governor Yahaya expressed profound sorrow over the tragedy and highlighted the urgent need for stronger safety protocols and increased public awareness to prevent future disasters.

“This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical need for comprehensive safety measures to avoid such occurrences. Authorities must enforce stricter regulations on fuel transportation and storage, while public awareness campaigns are vital in educating citizens on the dangers of approaching accident scenes, especially those involving hazardous materials like petroleum products,” he said.

Governor Yahaya also emphasized the importance of cross-state cooperation in disaster management to improve preparedness and response in such emergencies.

He commended Governor Namadi for his leadership during the relief efforts and applauded the swift actions of the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency.

The governor offered prayers for the deceased, asking for their souls to find peace in Aljannat Firdaus, and for strength to be granted to their grieving families.

He urged the people and the government of Jigawa State to remain strong in this difficult time, assuring them of continued support and solidarity from the people of Gombe State and the Northern region.
