NUJ re-elects Isiguzo as National President

The National President Of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Chris Isiguzo has been returned unopposed to las the national president of the Union for a fresh and final three year tenure.
His victory followed the late withdrawal of his main rival, Comrade Yusuf Idris, from the race as announced at the Seventh Triennial Delegates’ Conference held  in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
Other candidates, who returned unopposed at the conference, were the National Treasurer, Dele Atunbi; National Deputy President, Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi; National Internal Auditor, Ladi Emmanuel and the National Financial Secretary, Samuel Dada.
In his remarks, the NUJ National President, Comrade Isiguzo said that the conference, with the theme, “Media In Times of National Renewal,” was meant for journalists to undertake self-appraisal and chart new direction as well as elect a new Central Working Committee (CWC) members.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Abia state, Mr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has congratulated the NUJ president on his reelection.
In a release signed by the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. John Okiyi Kalu, the governor expressed appreciation to the NUJ delegates the confidence reposed on an illustrious son of the state.
He also applauded the orderly conduct of the triennial Conference.
Similarity, the FCT Council of the NUJ has also congratulated the president and the national executives, particularly those elected under Zone D.
