NUJ VON Donates To Old People As Press Week Starts

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Voice of Nigeria’s ( VON) Chapel has kicked-off its 2022 Press Week on humanitarian visit to Old people home in Lagos state.

 

As part of the activities to mark the press week in Lagos, the executive members of the Union led by the chairperson, Olajumoke Falayi-Johnson donated food items, cloths as well as toiletries as social responsibility toward inmates of Old People’s Home in Yaba Area of Lagos.

 

Love For The Old

The leader of the Union, Jumoke Falayi-Johnson disclosed that the reason for rendering the humanitarian and gift gestures was to show love for the old peoplen in the Nigerian society.

 

The Union’s decision to visit the Home is a change from the tradition of visits to orphanages as members made a token donation of food items to the old people.” She said.

 

The Chairman person of the Week, Mrs. Olufunke Fayemi also expressed her gratitude to members of staff of the Home for their care and love for the old people.

 

She appreciated the efforts being put in by the workers toward maintaining cleanliness and healthy living condition of the inmates.

 

The NUJ VON Chapel Press week which started on Wednesday 23 would run to Saturday 24, November 2022 in Lagos with other activities such as Public lecture on Youth and Gander participation in the 2023 General Elections, Cultural Day focusing on Strength in Nigeria’s cultural Diversity as well as Get-together to round off the activities of the week in the state.
