Nvidia Targets Server Rentals with Lepton Acquisition

Nvidia is reportedly planning to enter the server rental business, with discussions underway to acquire Lepton AI—a company specialising in server rentals powered by Nvidia’s AI chips.

According to The Information, unnamed sources estimate the deal to be worth several hundred million dollars.

Founded two years ago, Lepton AI secured an $11 million seed investment in May 2023 from CRV and Fusion Fund.

The server rental industry also includes Together AI, a notable competitor that has raised over $500 million in venture capital despite being only slightly older than Lepton AI.
