Debutants Heartland Queens will square up against Edo Queens in Matchday three of the 2024 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Super Six tournament, at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Wednesday.

Heartland Queens are experiencing a slow start in their maiden Super Six campaign, having secured only one point from their first two games. They opened with a 0-0 draw against Nasarawa Amazons, followed by a 2-0 loss to Confluence Queens on Monday.

Edo Queens began the tournament strongly with a commanding 5-1 victory over Confluence Queens. However, they faced a 2-1 defeat to South-South rivals Rivers Angels, affecting their momentum in the league title race.

Edo Queens hold a superior head-to-head record over Heartland Queens in their past three encounters at the Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament (BOWFT). Their most recent clash ended in a 2-1 win for the Benin City-based side.

A win for either side will significantly impact the Super Six standings with only two games remaining. Edo Queens aim to return to winning ways, while Heartland Queens seek their first-ever Super Six victory.
