A coalition of Youth Groups in Nasarawa State has called on governor Abdullahi Sule to as a matter of urgency consider the upcoming appointment of commissioners and special advisers, particularly for the ministry of youth and sports Development to be young people.
The state chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria, Akolo David-Alaku made the call while briefing journalists in Lafia, the state capital.
He further urged the State House of Assembly to expedite action in the passage of the Nasarawa State Youth Development Commission Bill by 2022 to give the youth of the state a new face.
David-Blake, however, tasked the state government to take protective steps in the area of job creation by providing enabling environment for the young people to thrive economically.
“We are calling on governor Abdullahi Sule to consider more youths in the upcoming appointment of commissioners and special advisers, particularly for the ministry of youth and sports development,” he noted.
He stated that they could not accept an older person other than the youth in the ministry as commissioner.
While passing vote of confidence on the governor for the rapid transformation of the state In the last two years, especially in the areas of security, education, health, agriculture, public service, investment, sports, rural and infrastructural development.
According to him, “The youth, therefore, join the clarion calls on the governor of the to re-contest the 2023 governorship election to continue his good work.”
He then warned youth in the state to shun social vices such as rape, cultism, hooliganism, and thuggery in the state, urging the governor to expedite action in providing scholarships to the students in tertiary institutions of learning home and abroad.
