NYSC calls for adequate Security of Corp Members

The Management of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has urged Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies in the country to ensure that all Corps Members who are deployed to contribute their quota to national development are adequately protected.

The Director, Press and Public relations of NYSC, Mr. Eddy Megwa, in a statement while announcing the death of a corps member who was murdered on Wednesday in Kaduna State, North Nigeria, said Corps members are our children, our sisters and brothers and they must be protected by all Nigerians”.

“The Management of NYSC was thrown into painful mood over the sudden death of Corps Member, Joel Grace Chalya with NYSC number KD/23A/4386, who was murdered in the early hours of Wednesday, 18th October, 2023 in Kaduna State, south-west Nigeria.

“The deceased pass on after her morning devotion with other Corps Members at Barnawa GRA, Kaduna, where she resided went jogging when she met hoodlums who stabbed her and made away with her phone.

“Her colleagues were alerted by a good Samaritan and the NYSC Management rushed the deceased to Harmony Hospital Limited in Barnawa, for prompt medical attention, but unfortunately, she passed on.

“The NYSC Management expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the deceased’s colleagues, her employer among others.

“Moreso, the Scheme is in strong collaboration with various security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of this dastardly act and ensure that justice is served.

“Members of the public are enjoined to cooperate with the security agencies in ensuring that all Corps Members who are deployed to contribute their quota to national development by serving in their communities are adequately protected,” the statement said.
