The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in Ebonyi State South-East Nigeria has urged the newly sworn-in corps members to avoid indulging in cultism, drug abuse and other social vices but to cultivate the habit of hard work throughout their orientation course in the camp and thereafter.
The NYSC Director- General Professor Shuaibu Ibrahim, represented by the State Coordinator, Mrs Mercy Bamai Dawuda stated this in her address during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2021 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 Corps Members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, old MacGregor college Affikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Mrs Bamai said the whole exercise was to prepare the Corps members ahead of future tasks in the field after 21 days in camp and it was going smoothly and orderly.
Moreso, the State Coordinator warned them against any form of Social vices both during service year and thereafter.
According to the State Coordinator, “The orientation course is meant to prepare the corps members physically and mentally for their expected contributions to the progress and development of the country as well as individual feats and post service years”.
Skills Acquisition Training
Bamai further urged the Corps members to take the Skill acquisition training very serious.
“Let me inform you that most of our predecessors who embraced vocational training are now business owners,” she informed.
She implored them to obey all Covid-19 protocols.
She appreciated the support of Federal, State and Local Government as well as Security agencies, Traditional Rulers and other stake holders more especially in the area of security and general welfare.
