The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu has advised members of the Corps service, to shun social media frivolous behaviors throughout their service year and even beyond.
According to the NYSC boss, the management of the scheme understands the relevance of the social media in this contemporary times but however, warned that caution must be exercised in its usage.
The Director General, gave the advice while addressing the newly mobilised, 2025 Batch A, stream 2 Corps members, who are currently undergoing orientation course at the NYSC camp, Yikpata, Edu LGA of Kwara State.
“Avoid taking some issues, which can be easily resolved with people around you, to social media, ” the DG counselled.
In his words, “avoid abuse of social media, which the consequences can be very grievous now and even later in the future.”
He urged them to use social media responsibly and avoid the frivolous side of it.
The NYSC boss had earlier congratulated the Corps members for the successful completion of their various academic programmes, which subsequently qualified them for national service.
General Nafiu also urged them to spend the one year NYSC programme to prepare for the leadership roles, which are now bestowed to them.
Dedicated and loyal
He also implored the Corps members to be diligent, dedicated and loyal in rendering their services to fatherland, Nigeria.
According to him, they should imbibe the patriotic zeal and be ready to give their best, while on national service.
In his welcome address, the NYSC State Coordinator, Kwara State, Mr Onifade Joshua described the visit of the Director -General as encouraging stressing that it will go a very long way to boost the morale of the Corps members, who were already enthusiastic to serve their fatherland.
He reported that a total number of 2,290 Corps members, were undergoing orientation exercise in kwara State.
