The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has debunked a fake press release purporting to extend the registration date for the 2024 Batch “B” Orientation programme.

According to a statement by the NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Eddy Megwa, the release, signed by one Samad Abdullahi, did not originate from the scheme and is fake.

Mr. Megwa said, “For the purposes of information, the NYSC registration portal experienced a glitch on Saturday, 8th June 2024. Prospective Corps Members (PCM) were immediately notified of the problem in the NYSC portal.

“When the issue was rectified, registration by Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) continued the same day. Upon reaching the maximum number of PCMs required for the incoming batch in line with the carrying capacities of the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps nationwide, the portal was shut down accordingly.”

The management apologized to PCMs who could not register before the portal was closed and assured them that it would reopen for 2024 Batch “B” Stream II later.
