Speaking on the theme, “NYSC SAED: A Gateway To National Development,” Ibrahim said the programme is in line with management’s resolve to reinvigorate and deepen the impact of the SAED programme.
The DG said “I am confident that the gains of the SAED programme will be enhanced if the proposed National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund (NYSCTF) becomes a reality.
“Apart from providing adequate facilities for more impactful vocational and entrepreneurship trainings, it will also be a sustainable source of business financing for the Corps members. That way, we will be achieving greater feats in empowering our graduate youths for self-employment and wealth creation. I, therefore, appeal to the relevant authorities to support the actualization of the Trust Fund.”
He commended Corps members, for availing themselves of the opportunity for self-employment through the SAED, while reiterating management commitment to working with various stakeholders to enable they actualise their entrepreneurial dreams.
“Accordingly, this Festival is designed to showcase your various business and vocational skills to Nigerian investors, provide for you the opportunity for networking as well as attract funding and technical support. I, therefore, urge you to make good use of this opportunity to enhance your skills while also promoting the much desired national unity and integration,” he added.
Earlier, the director, SAED, Mr Hilary Nasamu said over the next three days, a total of 222 skill competitors will engage themselves in a process that will produce three top prize winners in each of the skills.
“Even though a few will emerge tops, all of you and the Scheme will be winners ultimately, as this event will serve to expose your talents to public patronage and sponsorship. Therefore, it is not a do-or die affair. You must remain committed to the ideals of National unity and integration even as you compete amongst yourselves.”
