The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Yushau’ Ahmed has warned Corps Members against indulging in acts that can endanger their lives during their service year.
The Director-General gave the warning while addressing Corps Members deployed to NYSC Orientation Camp in Dazingau, Nagere Local Government Area of Yobe State likewise their colleagues at Gombe State Orientation Camp in Amada, all in North East Nigeria.
He advised the Corps Members to avoid every form of misconduct and appealed to them to be security conscious at all times.
“Don’t endanger your lives by traveling at night. Board vehicles from approved motor parks only and once it’s getting late, break your journey and pass the night in Corpers Lodges, military barracks and other safe places”, the DG said.
The Director General implored the Corps Members to appreciate the cultural values of their host communities and strive to promote national unity and integration as good ambassadors of the Scheme.
The NYSC Yobe State Coordinator, Mrs Hafsat Yerima while briefing General Ahmed described the Corps Members as disciplined and hardworking, who are ready for the service year.
As of the time of General Ahmed’s visit, a total of 1,143 Corps Members comprising 671 males and 472 females have been registered in the Yobe camp.
Similarly, the NYSC Gombe State Coordinator, Mr Dawut Jidda informed the Director General that all the 1,184 Corps Members comprising 676 males and 508 females have acclimatised to the regimented camp life.
He said the Corps Members and Camp Officials are all in high spirits working as team players towards achieving a successful orientation exercise.
