To free the environment from health related issues, the National Youth Service Corps NYSC in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria has embarked on another clean up of all the major Public areas in the State.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Bamai Mercy Dawuda made this Known to Journalists while delivering a welcome address written by the NYSC Director – General, Professor Shuaibu Ibrahim in Abakaliki the State Capital.
Mrs Bamai said the essence of this clean up excercise is to save Nigerians from diseases which may emanate from dirty environment.
She said the team of the program is “clean environment/good hygiene: panacea for good health and long life”.
“Good grooming on regular basis, Community policing to enforce clean environment and proper waste disposal, regular hand washing and need to avoid frequent touching of hands, nose and mouth to minimize the spread of viruses, bacteria germs and infections, “Bamai said.
The State Commissioner of Youths and sports who is also the Chairman, NYSC Governing Board, Mr Charles Akpaenika, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Ben Okike urged all Ebonyi people to always maintain good hygiene for healthy living.
He thanked NYSC for organising such program.
One of the traders on behalf of others in International Market Abakaliki, Mrs Chinyere Nwanga expressed joy as she is enjoying clean environment in the market.
Some of the major places covered during the excercise were the New Government House Abakaliki, State Secretariat, International Market and Kpirikpiri Market among others.
