The Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), the association of Nigerian film directors, has proposed a partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on capacity building for Corps Members.
This will be done through specialized training in digital content creation, story writing, mentorship, and related fields.

The President of DGN, Mr. Uche Agbo, made this known when he led members of the guild on a courtesy visit to the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, at the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.
Agbo said the guild was ready to create a framework that would enable Corps Members showcase their potential.
Submitting the proposal during the visit, he explained that DGN sought to nurture the talents of young Nigerians interested in building careers in the creative industry.
He added that the first phase of the programme, under the guild’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), would involve sensitization of Corps Members during Orientation Camps.
He stressed the importance of developing young Nigerians with a passion for the film and creative industry.
In his response, Brigadier General Nafiu commended DGN for considering NYSC as a strategic partner in youth development.
He noted that NYSC, with over 52 years of service, had become a household name in Nigeria, contributing to character moulding, leadership building, and national cohesion.
The NYSC DG emphasized that the Scheme welcomed collaborations that add value to Corps Members.
“The Scheme is passionate about skills empowerment for Corps Members because they are smart, creative, and need assistance. The intervention of the creative industry will be a boost to the NYSC SAED programme, as it will further expose Corps Members to the world,” he said.
General Nafiu assured them that the proposal would be given due consideration.
