The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been applauded for its various innovations which have led to effective and efficient service delivery to stakeholders in Nigeria.
A statement by the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Mr Eddy Megwa, disclosed that the National Coordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemili gave the commendation on Monday during the NYSC SERVICOM Networking Committee Meeting of Nodal, Focal and Desk Officers, themed; “Adopting Innovations for Effective and Efficient Service Delivery,” in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Mrs Akajemili who is also the Chief Executive Officer noted that customer satisfaction is the bedrock of every good business, adding that there is the need to continuously train the personnel that are on the frontline of every service delivery for better performance.
The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Kaku Fadah said that in its bid to ensure world-class service delivery, the Scheme had put in place, mechanisms for assessing the impact of its services.
He said this was done through the establishment of NYSC Radio and Television Stations, provision of suggestion boxes, toll-free telephone lines, direct mobile line communication, as well as a regular meeting with designated officers to review commendations, complaints and suggestions from outsiders.
General Fada, whose address was read at the meeting by the Director, Human Resource Management, Hajiya Habiba Bappah said; “These modest steps and our compliance with other SERVICOM guidelines informed the conferment of Awards on the Director-General and the Nodal Officer in 2021.”
Also, in recognition of our giant strides over the years, the SERVICOM National Office elevated the NYSC to a 4-Star Organisation in 2019.”
General Fadah promised continuous improvement in the training and sensitisation of NYSC field officers on work ethics, discipline, commitment, timely and transparent service delivery.
Fadah enjoined participants at the meeting to come up with ideas that would further improve service delivery through the monitoring of Corps SERVICOM Vanguards and other initiatives in all NYSC formations across the country.
The Head of the Reforms Unit, Abdullahi Yusuf Baba said that the meeting was organised annually to prepare Officers, who were the foot soldiers of the Scheme across NYSC formations nationwide for the task of ensuring effective and efficient service delivery.
