Inaugurating the COVID-19 vanguard shortly after the swearing-in of 1,176 corps members for batch C stream I at the orientation camp ground in Amada Akko LGA of Gombe, the DG urged them to enlighten their colleagues on the need to adhere to COVID-19 protocols.

Represented by Ada Imoni, the state coordinator of NYSC, the DG disclosed that two persons were appointed as members of the vanguard across 10 platoons to ensure that all the platoons have members that can effectively educate others about COVID-19 prevention protocols.
The corps members were inaugurated as members of the group mandated with educating corps members in the state on how to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

At this juncture, I wish to remind you of the need to continue to comply with the COVID-19 prevention protocols throughout the orientation period.”

“In particular, you must ensure physical distancing and wearing of face masks as well as make good use of the handwashing facilities provided at strategic locations, amongst other safety measures.” he said.

While reminding them of Federal Government’s decision to sanction those that were yet to receive the vaccine Ibrahim, urged the Corps members to comply.

As you may be aware, the federal government has announced a plan to make the presentation of evidence of COVID-19 vaccination by civil servants a pre-requisite for gaining entry to public offices from 1st December 2021.

“I, therefore, encourage those of you, who are yet to take the vaccine, to do so without further delay as the rule could apply to corps members in places of primary assignment.

Ibrahim said, “Of greater significance is the fact that the vaccine will keep you safe. We are already in touch with the relevant authorities to ensure that the vaccines are made available to you in the course of this programme.”
