Nigeria’s former Head of State and founder of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has said that the Scheme needs the support of all Nigerians.
He stated this when the Acting Director General of NYSC, Mrs Christy Uba paid him a courtesy visit at his Asokoro residence in Abuja, Nigeria.
General Gowon who commended the various contributions of Corps Members to national development, also poured encomiums on the Acting Director General of the Scheme, Mrs Uba and other members of her management team for their exceptional performance.
He urged the Acting Director General and her management team to continue to build on the legacies of the founding fathers of the Scheme.
“You and your team are doing well. Continue with the good work you have been doing and keep the flag flying. You have performed exceptionally well”, Gowon added.
In her remarks, Mrs Uba thanked General Gowon for his unending support for the Scheme.
She informed the founder of the Scheme that the workforce is stable and their morale is high.
