The Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reiterated that the Scheme remains fully committed to the welfare, security, and safety of its staff and Corps Members.

NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, made this known in a statement while reacting to the circulation of a fake NYSC safety pamphlet advising Corps Members to pay ransom in the event of kidnapping.

Ms. Embu explained that although a similar document was presented to the Management by a consultant in 2021 for consideration, it was never adopted as an official policy of the Scheme.

She clarified that the document being circulated is not an official NYSC publication and does not represent the Scheme’s policy regarding the security of staff and Corps Members; therefore, it should be ignored.

According to her, “NYSC Management remains committed to the welfare, security, and safety of its staff and Corps Members and will continue to collaborate with security agencies and other stakeholders in this regard.”

She concluded with the Scheme’s motto: “Nigeria is ours; Nigeria we serve.”
