The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has urged Corps Members to undertake impactful community projects that improve living standards in their host communities.

The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed stated this during his address to 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream Two Corps Members at the Kaduna State Temporary Orientation Camp, located within Government College Kurmin-Mashi, Northwest Nigeria.

According to General Ahmed, “Community Development Service, one of NYSC’s four cardinal programmes, aims to leave lasting legacies in host communities during the service year.”

He urged them to respect the culture and traditions of the communities they would be posted to, and avoid any action that may bring them on collision with their hosts.

The Director General also implored the Corps Members to remain disciplined, use the social media wisely and participate actively in all camp activities.

He advised them to study and adhere strictly to the security tips that were given to them, to ensure their safety within and outside the Orientation Camp and especially, when they get to their place of primary assignments and host communities.

On our part we would never send you to where there are security threats. Please desist from embarking on night journeys. And if it is compulsory that you travel, obtain permission from the NYSC officials and your place of primary assignments”, the DG said.

Warning

He specifically warned the Corps Members to avoid free rides if they want to travel, but board vehicles from designated motor parks to avoid exposing themselves to danger.

The NYSC Kaduna State Coordinator, Mr Hassan Taura informed the Director General that the Corps Members with enthusiasm have been participating in all camp activities.

He added that a total of 1,976 Corps Members were deployed to Kaduna while 639 were dislodged from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
