NYSC trains staff on procurement processes

The National Youth service corps, NYSC has trained its procurement officers on emerging challenges in procurement processes on Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) to enhance efficiency and ensure financial prudence.

 

The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed while declaring the training workshop open in Abuja, the nation’s capital said that the training was organised to deepen the efficiency of procurement officers and instill in them a sense of fiscal discipline and block leakages.

 

The Director-General stated that the Scheme is strategically positioned to conform to due process and financial regulations as it relates to all applications on Government Integrated Financial Management Information System, GIFMIS.

 

“This training is a mark of our commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability and prudent management of resources, “he said.

 

He further reminded procurement officers that the Scheme count on them for the seamless conduct of the procurement process, which is critical to the success of its operations.

 

In her earlier welcome address, the Director Procurement Mrs Fasakin Bona -Adibeli disclosed that the workshop was organised in collaboration with the office of the Accountant General of the Federation to broaden the knowledge of NYSC Procurement officers to keep them abreast with emerging trends and best practices.

While appreciating the Director-General for providing an enabling environment for capacity building to enhance seamless operations, Mrs Fasakin enjoined the procurement officers to justify the confidence reposed in them as critical end users of GIFMIS applications designed to enforce prudent financial management of public funds.

 

The theme of the workshop is “Emerging issues in procurement processes on GIFMIS”

A team of resource persons from the office of the Accountant General of the Federation led by GIFMIS NYSC Coordinator Mr Luka Joshua  Izang delivered relevant papers at the workshop.
