October 2024: Troops neutralize 481 Terrorists

Nigerian troops have neutralized 481 terrorists and arrested 741 persons including terrorists in the month of October 2024.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward made this known while briefing Journalists on ongoing military operations in different parts of the country in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

General Buba said that “troops also rescued 492 kidnapped hostages”.

Furthermore, troops recovered 480 weapons and 9,026 assorted ammunition.

 Whilst they denied the oil theft of an estimated sum of close to 4 billion Naira (N3,896,400.960.00) only.

Breakdown for the month of October includes and is not limited to the following: 263 AK47 rifles, 81 locally fabricated guns, 91 dane guns, 76 pump action guns, 5,683 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 1,944 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 642 cartridges, 160 assorted arms and 1,526 assorted ammunitions. Others are 3,226,645 litres of stolen crude oil, 763,860 litres of illegally refined AGO and 12,690 litres of PMS.

Troops of OP HADIN KAI during the month of October 2024, neutralized 198 terrorists, arrested 166 suspects and rescued 156 kidnapped hostages in North East, Nigeria.

Additionally, troops recorded 257 surrendered BH/ISWAP terrorists’ combatants and their families.

The summary of recovered items include: 73 AK47 rifles, 26 fabricated rifles, 18 dane guns, 12 assorted arms, 1,574 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 631 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 434 assorted ammunitions.

Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN in North Central during the month of October 2024 neutralized 30 violent extremists, arrested 140 and rescued 105 kidnap hostages.

Troops also recovered 19 AK47 rifles, 5 fabricated guns, 18 assorted arms, 834 rounds of 7.62mm special, 112 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 75 assorted ammunition.

Troops of Op WHIRL STROKE prevailed over terrorists and the cohorts operating in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States in North Central, Nigeria.

According to him, during the month of October 2024, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE neutralized 20 terrorists, arrested 61 suspects and rescued 60 kidnapped hostages.

Troops also recovered 18 AK47 rifles, 7 assorted arms, 741 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and 85 rounds of assorted ammunition.

General Buba noted that Troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI remained focussed on their mission to create a conducive and stable security environment for agricultural activities and other forms of socio-economic activities in KADUNA, KATSINA, KEBBI, SOKOTO and ZAMFARA State in the North West.

Troops embarked on several offensive operations canalising and destroying these terrorists in their hideouts and enclaves through ground and air operations.

“during the month of October 2024, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI neutralized 163 terrorists, arrested 82 suspects and rescued 80 kidnap hostages”.

Additionally, troops recovered 121 AK47 rifles, 32 fabricated guns, 53 assorted arms, 2,134 rounds of 7.62mm special, 1,015 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 75 assorted ammunition.

According to him, troops of Op DELTA SAFE during the month of October 2024, arrested 126 persons involved in crude oil theft.

“Troops also denied the oil theft of 3,226,645 litres of crude oil, 763,860 litres of AGO and 12,690 litres of PMS”, he said.

Furthermore, troops recovered 429 assorted ammunition and destroyed 195 wooden boats as well as 216 illegal refining sites.

Troops of Operation UDO KA conducted offensive operations against IPOB/ESN terror group in several SE states killing terrorists, making arrests and recovering of weapons. Accordingly, IPOB /ESN incidents were recorded in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Imo and Enugu States, South East, Nigeria.

Overall, troops of Op UDO KA in the month of October 2024, neutralized 40 terrorists, arrested 55 suspects and rescued 35 kidnap hostages.

Additionally, troops recovered 21 AK47 rifles, 24 pump action guns, 19 assorted arms, 177 live cartridges and 191 assorted ammunition.

Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of Nigeria have mourned the tragic passing away of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja saying his passing will not officers to derail in their focus to destroy the terrorists but rather inspired by his actions on the battlefield as a war commander as well as his strong desire to defeat the terrorist in order to end the war.
