Ogun Assembly Re-elects Former Speaker

The Ogun State House of Assembly has re-elected the immediate past speaker, Rt. Hon Olakunle Oluomo was the 10th speaker.

 

Mrs Bolanle Ajayi from the Yewa South State constituency was elected as the Deputy Speaker.

 

The session was on break for about four hours on account of a security threat, after which the Clerk of the Assembly, Deji Adeyemo, therefore, called the Assembly to order and called for nomination for the election to the office of Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

 

Hon. Lamidi Musefiu from Ado-Odo Ota state constituency 2 nominated the immediate past speaker, while the deputy speaker was thereafter nominated by Hon. Bakare Oluwayemisi which was duly seconded by Hon. Odunuga Olusegun Kaka.

 

Meanwhile, in the absence of further nominations, Clerk Deji Adeyemo, therefore declared Oluomo as the Speaker-elect.

 

The election of other principal officers into the 10th state assembly followed.

 

Governor Dapo Abiodun was however conspicuously absent at the inauguration held at the assembly chamber, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, southwest Nigeria.
