The Organized Labour has on Tuesday suspended the 8-Day industrial dispute following a Memorandum of Action (MoU) signed by its leadership with the Ogun state government.
The leadership of Organised Labour called on all its members across Ogun State to return to work without further delay.
The statement was jointly signed by state chairmen and secretaries of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC).
The Labour leaders noted that the decision to suspend the strike was influenced by security intelligence, which warned that “the environment was not conducive for further mass gatherings.
“Our safety is paramount and has to be pursued,” they lamented.
The labour leaders, however, called on all workers across Ogun state to “remain resolute, vigilant and steadfast to uphold the spirit of unity” as they monitor the implementation of the Memorandum of Action by Ogun state government.
The unions assured workers that no employee in the civil and public service or local government system will be victimised for their participation in the strike.
“Your voices, actions, and sacrifices have not gone unnoticed. Together, we have shown that a united workforce is a powerful force for change,” the Labour Unions affirmed.
The Organised Labour and other movements strongly noted that the interventions of eminent citizens, which included paramount rulers, national labour leaders, and respected labour veterans both within and outside Nigeria, played vital roles in charting a path for dialogue and resolution.
