Former Nigerian coach Sunday Oliseh has resigned as coach of  German Western regional league club SV Straelen.

The 47-year-old announced his resignation after SV Straelen’s  2-0 loss at Fortuna Düsseldorf’s U23s – making it five defeats in a row.

Oliseh informed team officials of his decision because of what he called “two months of turbulence.”

Straelen’s Sporting Director Kevin Wolze, broke the news to the players that Oliseh left despite efforts to persuade him to stay.

Sunday had the feeling that the team could no longer be reached. We have to accept this decision. It doesn’t make sense to try to persuade him to continue,” said Wolze.

Consequently the Sporting Director took over  training management together with assistant coach Adli Lachheb.

Oliseh’s departure leaves Straelen rock bottom of the league.

The former Super Eagles captain and coach last managed Dutch side Fortuna Sittard in 2018.
