The Olukoyi of Ikoyi land, in Osun State, SouthWest Nigeria, Oba Yisau Bamitale Oyetunji Otunla, Kodaolu 1 has joined his ancestors.
This was contained in an official announcement made by the Chairman of the Local Council, Prince Wasiu Oyetunji Oyelami on Tuesday.
The late monarch who ruled for 35 years died after a brief illness at the age of 75 years, having ascended the throne in 1987.
Prince Oyelami prayed that the gentle soul of the departed monarch rests in peace and be admitted into Aljannah Firdaus.
Osun Government Mourns
Meanwhile, the government of Osun State has commiserated with the royal family of the late Olukoyi of Ikoyi over the demise of Oba Oyetunji.
In a release signed by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation,, Funke Egbemode, it said the 35-year reign of the monarch was notable for utmost commitment and love for his people, saying he will be greatly missed.
The government of Osun commiserates with his family and the entire Ikoyi town the fortitude to bear the loss,” it stated.
