Olympic Medalist Blessing Oborududu Receives Sports Icon Award

Nigeria’s wrestling sensation, Blessing Oborududu, a 2020 Olympic Games silver medalist and multiple Commonwealth Games champion, received her ‘Nigeria at 60′ Sports Icon and Blueprint Sports Person of the Year awards from the Sports Minister Sunday Dare.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Ismaila Abubakar and the Minister’s Special Adviser on Sports, Mary Onyali, were also in attendance to honour the athlete who has brought glory to Nigeria.

Oborududu won Gold in the Women’s 68kg Freestyle Wrestling event at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, retaining the title she won in the competition in Gold Coast, Australia.

The wrestling sensation, also won a Silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Team USA’s Tamyra Stock-Mensah got the Gold after a 4-1 victory in the women’s 68kg Free Style Wrestling  final.
