Olympics: Zhumanazarova Defeats Oborududu In Women’s Wrestling Semis
Team Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu lost her semifinal battle in the women’s 68kg wrestling category, falling to Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova with a score of 3-1 on points.
In a tense quarter-finals encounter, Oborududu defeated World No. 3, Koumba Larroque of France, with a 6-2 victory to reach the semis.
However, the Nigerian was unable to maintain her momentum in the semi-final match against Zhumanazarova.
Following a head-on collision with her opponent, the 35-year old Oborududu found it difficult to build momentum, which affected how she performed in the second part of the match.
However, Oborududu will have another chance to compete for a medal, as she will contest for the bronze medal on Tuesday.
