Omoni Oboli’s ‘Wives on Strike 3’ Dominates West African Box Office
Omoni Oboli’s film The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3 has reached another milestone, becoming the top-grossing film at the West African box office with earnings of ₦28.2 million.

The film also achieved several additional milestones, including the highest ticket pre-sale for a Nollywood film, the biggest opening weekend for a Nollywood crime thriller, the largest opening weekend for an October Nollywood release, and the highest opening weekend for the Wives on Strike franchise. In a heartfelt post, Omoni Oboli expressed her gratitude to the cast, crew, and audience for their efforts in contributing to the film’s success so far.
It is worth noting that within just two days of its release, Wives on Strike 3 earned ₦10 million through voucher sales. The voucher system, introduced prior to the film’s release, allowed viewers to purchase tickets ahead of showtime.
Now showing in cinemas, The Uprising is a satire that follows a female local government official who becomes entangled in turmoil as she navigates the challenges of her newfound power and personal life. The film features a star-studded cast including Chioma Akpotha, Uche Jombo, Omoni Oboli, Ufuoma McDermott, Hilda Dokubo, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie), and May Yul-Edochie.
