Dr. Olufemi Samuel, a Nigerian Medical Association at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo state, has called for more blood donation for the survivors of the St Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

The physician, who is one of the doctors on the ground treating survivors of the attack mentioned that, “Most of the patients operated on still need a blood transfusion. We still need blood.

“Many of the victims lost blood so they need blood and there’s nothing we can do than to give blood,” he said.

Samuel, who is the immediate past Secretary of the FMC branch of the NMA said blood is what is crucially needed at the hospital now to save lives.

He urged more residents to come out to voluntarily donate blood, noting that it would help the medical team to save more lives.

He commended the residents of the state who had trooped out on Sunday to donate blood, disclosing that some residents also contributed money to buy medical materials needed for the treatment of survivors of the attack.

Dr. Samuel also urged the Federal Government and philanthropists to start providing funds for emergency services in hospitals, noting that having funds allocated for emergency services in hospitals will help save more lives during emergencies.
