Ondo Guber Election : INEC Resumes Final Collation of Results

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has resumed the  collation of results of the Ondo State Governorship election after it had announced it suspension.

The Returning Officer of the exercise and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Lokoja, Prof Olayemi Akinwunmi, made the declaration after announcing the results from the 15 Council areas of the state.

According to him. “the break enabled the Commission receive the remaining results from three LGAs namely : Odigbo, Ilaje and Ese-Odo” .

Results from Okitipupa and Akure North local government Areas were announced Sunday morning. 

Meanwhile INEC had uploaded 92.09 per cent of the results from polling units. Out of 3,933 polling units across the state, INEC uploaded the results of 3,622 units to its portal.

Some party agents, however, expressed concerns over the election, citing  non – voting in some polling units. 

The Returning Officer, in his reaction, “urged the aggrieved party agents to formalise their grievances to enable the Commission investigate their claims and take appropriate action” he advised.

Meanwhile, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo state, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola has expressed satisfaction over the peaceful and professional conduct of the just concluded poll in the State.

Mrs Babalola made the statement at the collation centre of the 2024 Ondo state governorship election in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

She applauded the orderliness of the voters, party agents as well as the security agencies for maintaining peace and order in all the polling units across the state.
