The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has commissioned major road and water projects in Akure, the state capital, as part of activities marking the first anniversary of his administration, reaffirming infrastructure development as a key priority of his government.

Speaking at the ceremonies, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the projects as strategic investments aimed at strengthening connectivity, boosting economic activities and improving access to potable water for residents.

“These projects are critical infrastructure initiatives that connect communities, facilitate commerce and reflect our commitment to delivering the dividends of good governance,” he said.

Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that the road network would enhance mobility for residents and businesses, stimulate economic activities and provide alternative access routes, including to Akure Airport.

He said that the projects aligned with his administration’s OUR EASE policy, focused on economic growth, job creation and improved living standards.

At the inauguration of the Omi Irorun O’Datiwa Water Scheme at the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Akure, the Governor, represented by his Deputy, said “the intervention was funded by the state government to strengthen healthcare delivery and sanitation services.’

The water scheme is designed to supply 150 cubic metres of potable water daily to about 6,000 residents through a solar-powered system and a newly constructed distribution network.

The Governor also commissioned Adegbola Health Centre in Akure and Surulere Health Centre in Ondo town, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality primary healthcare.

Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Abiola Olawoye, said “the projects reflect the administration’s resolve to prioritise road development, noting that additional road works are ongoing across the state.”

Community leaders commended the Governor for fulfilling his promises, describing the projects as transformative for residents and businesses in the affected areas.
