Efe announced this on Tuesday night in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on the sideline on the opening of the 7th edition of the festival in Abuja.
“The core of what we do is for social change, where we use photography to highlight social issues.
“For example, some of the arts and photos express the social issues that we are facing in Nigeria like electricity issues.
“We also have photos on solar energy, the electricity challenges in Nigeria and how solar energy is coming to support local communities and support local economy.
” There are photo stories of children with visual impairment but still goes to school and also others that address issues of human right.
” In essence, we use photos to raise questions and open doors for dialogue in a way that prompt the viewer to take action that make the society better,”he said.
Efe said that the photo fiesta would hold master classes for mentorship of young artists.
He added that seasoned artists and curators from different parts of the world would be available as resource persons to handle master classes, workshop, seminars, photo-walks.
“This year’s festival, holding from Oct. 24 to 28, is geared towards driving social change and provoking youths interest in arts and photography.
“Over 200 photos will be exhibited at the Exhibition Pavilion in Area 10, including the works of Ashia Audu, Hakeem Salaam, George Osodi, Ukandi Atsu, Fatima Yusuf, Ene Inalegwu and Jackie Ore.”
