Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen created a penalty but it was not enough as Napoli fell 3-2 to Real Madrid in a UEFA Champions League encounter.

The Italian champions took the lead on 19th minute through defender Leo Ostigard but were pegged back by Brazilian Vinicius Jr shortly after.

English midfielder Jude Bellingham stamped his authority as he weaved through a sea of legs on 34 minutes to hit the back of the net and give Madrid a 2-1 lead.

The capacity-filled Diego Armando Maradona stadium waited till the second half for Victor Osimhen to make a mark as his shot struck the arm of Nacho Fernandez.

Center-Referee awarded a spot kick on 54 minutes after a VAR check and Piotr Zielinski restored parity for Napoli.

Up until that time, Osimhen was well-policed by Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger – absolutely pocketing the rampaging Nigerian goal-poacher.

And it came back to haunt 10 minutes from the end as a rasping shot from 40 yards out by Federico Valverde cannoned off the crossbar and went in via the back of goalkeeper Alex Meret.

The victory puts Real Madrid in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, while Napoli will need to pick up points in their remaining group games to avoid falling behind.
