Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen, scored twice to secure a 2-1 victory for Galatasaray in their Super Lig clash against Rizespor, at the Caykur Didi Stadium in Rize, Turkey on Monday night.
Both teams failed to register a goal in the first half despite creating scoring chances. In the second half, the flood gates opened as it became a festival of goals.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 47th minute after a pass from Przemyslaw Frankowski found the Nigeria in space.
However, the hosts fought back with Gambian International Ali Sowe equalising in the 54th minute.
Osimhen then fired home the winning goal in the 86th minute as the league leaders opened the 6-point lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig.

“We were better in the second half. It took us a while to find ourselves in the first half, but with the tactical changes our coach made during the halftime, the directives he gave us and the player changes, we won this big match,” Galatasaray captain Fernando Muslera said.
“After our fans called me, I also wanted to wear Osimhen’s mask. He really puts in a lot of effort and fights every minute.”
“He never gives up. We are all grateful to play with a player like him,” Muslera added.
“We knew we would achieve something as a result of supporting him. Today, he scored the goals that brought us victory.”
The Nigeria international played the entire duration of the keenly contested encounter. The striker has so far scored 12 goals in 18 league appearances for the Yellow and Reds thus season.
Galatasaray top the standings with with 63 points from 23 games, while Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe are on 57 points from 23 games.
