The Blue Movement, a splinter group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has rejoined the main fold, vowing to work for the party’s victory in the upcoming governorship election in the state.

The Movement led by Wale Alabi, a former aide to Rauf Aregbesola, the current national secretary of African Democratic Congress (ADC), said rejoining the APC was the group’s next logical step.

Speaking in Osogbo, at the formal reintegration of the Movement into the party, Alabi said the group never really left the APC, but merely went into hibernation to restrategise and come back stronger.

“We never really left the APC. What we did was to operate within a structure of the party. We have been active for a long time and committed to party activities. Today, we celebrate the creation of the Blue Movement and its full reintegration into the party,” he stated.

Alabi said the group believes in the candidacy of Bola Oyebamiji as the flag bearer of the APC in the August 8 Osun governorship election, hence its decision to return to support him.

He explained that the strength of the Blue Movement lies in its numbers and the commitment of its members, noting that membership of the group runs into thousands across all local governments in the state.

Welcoming the group, Osun APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji said the return of the group was auspicious, stating that it symbolised unity, loyalty and commitment to the party and its progressive ideology.

“Today’s event is a sign and symbol of unity, and again, a symbol that the APC will win the August 8, 2026 gubernatorial election.

“The Blue Movement are core APC members. Unfortunately, during the 2022 Governorship election, they stepped aside, about six thousand of them. We pleaded, we spoke to them, but they insisted they needed to step aside.

“But today, they are back, and we’re rehabilitating them in a very good way, and today we are reintegrating them. This will go a long way in increasing the voting strength of Osun APC,” he said.

Oyebamiji noted that his plans for the state are pragmatic and developmental, building on the core strengths of the local economy and making it work for citizens and residents of the state.

He urged all members of the APC to close ranks and work together for the victory of the party in the August 8 governorship election, arguing that the party always provides a better alternative where governance is concerned in Nigeria.
