Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, distributed ree life support gadgets to people living with disability (PWDs) in Osogbo, the state capital.
Adeleke said the gesture was to fulfill his campaign promise of inclusivity to the PWDs who voted massively for him during the last governorship election.
The Governor explained that he provided them with the gadgets to appreciate their support and to make life more meaningful for them, noting that their disability should not preclude them from enjoying dividends of democracy.
“They are my people; they voted for me, and they have been doing everything to support me,” he said.
The Governor who pointed out that the needs of the PWDs were varied, said the assortment of gadgets provided would cater to individual challenges of the people, irrespective of age or sex.
According to him, there were thousands of wheelchairs (manual and automated), crutches, walking sticks, talking watches, artificial limbs, hearing aids, ultraviolet umbrellas, cream and glasses for albinos among others. G
Adeleke also disclosed that his government had made provision for people living with disability in his healthcare policies, ensuring that they get free enrollment and treatment under the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS).
He said, “I am extremely glad that today I am presenting the OHIS card for access to free healthcare to the group of people living with disability across the state.
“I am not only presenting the cards, but I am also providing them with life-support gadgets and state-of-the-art medical aids that will make their existence more meaningful.”
The Governor, whose administration clocked two years on November 27 vowed to continue to support residents of the state, noting that without their support his administration would not have achieved all it did.
