The Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reimposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Ifon and Ilobu following renewed communal clashes between the two communities.
The curfew, now running from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, is aimed at restoring peace and preventing further violence.
This move follows a similar curfew that was lifted about three weeks ago after an earlier period of unrest.
Governor Adeleke expressed dissatisfaction over the resurgence of the crisis and directed the joint security forces, including the Nigerian Army, Police, and Civil Defence Corps, to maintain 24-hour surveillance to ensure law and order.
An urgent stakeholders’ meeting has been convened for March 22, 2025, with key leaders from both communities to discuss steps toward resolving the conflict.
The governor called for peace and warned that those involved in exacerbating the unrest would face severe consequences.
